“Michael Schirner appropriates a series of historical snapshots by working on images found in newspapers and on the Internet. From Robert Capa’s picture of a falling Republican soldier in 1936 to video surveillance images of the last time Princess Diana was seen alive in 1997, the artist erases elements which would a priori make these images instantly recognisable.
